Meet Our Founders

Pieter Buttenaar, Owner/Operator

pieter@optimumhomecare.ca

Pieter grew up in Kelowna, British Columbia before moving to Prince George in 2009 to pursue a Bachelor's of Commerce from the University of Northern British Columbia. Upon graduation, he worked in management, sales, customer service, business development, and human resources.

Pieter grew up in a health care environment as his Mother is a Registered Nurse, and his Father was a foster parent for children with disabilities for almost 20 years. Watching both parents care for so many different people over the years is where he grew the desire to go into the home care industry.

His goal is to bring back a customer service approach to health care industry, and create an environment that aims to foster independence at home.

katie@optimumhomecare.ca

Kathryn is a Registered Nurse that graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia’s  School of Nursing in 2012. In the beginning of her career, she worked as a rural nurse in North Western BC. She returned to Prince George in 2015 to pursue Emergency and critical care training and currently works as an ER nurse at UHNBC.

Kathryn grew up in the beautiful Okanagan Valley. Her mother was a Registered Nurse, and together with Kathryn’s father, fostered children with various disabilities and health challenges. From a young age she was exposed to the realities of complex medical needs and the resources required in managing them. Kathryn became passionate about the health care needs and welfare of others and as a result pursued a career in nursing.

Kathryn has lived and worked in the north for the last ten years. She has become passionate about providing holistic and culturally sensitive care for the people of this region. Kathryn’s vision is to facilitate clients to live independently at home despite health challenges and complex needs.
